Parks

• Work is continuing on the installation of lighting system controls as well as completion of landscape works at the Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts.
• The installation of light fittings at Cook, Jubilee, Lietch and Collins Park ovals has commenced, as part of the sports facilities lighting upgrades.

Water

Narrabri sewer mains inspections and water jetting

Following the completion of video inspections, contractors have now commenced high-pressure water jetting across sewer mains between Namoi Creek and Namoi River.

Works will continue until 25 January, with a break from 20 December to 12 January.

Maintenance repair works, Wee Waa levee bank

Maintenance repair works on a damaged stormwater pipe and surrounding bank at the Wee Waa levee are continuing.

Access on the lagoon side of the levee (behind the Wee Waa Aquatic Centre), remains closed (including to pedestrians), while works are completed.

Bulk water filling stations installed

During the past couple of months, contractors have been constructing water main extensions and installing bulk water filling stations at Old Gunnedah Road, Kamilaroi Highway and Yarrie Lake Road.

These solar-powered stations are on the 4G network. They include a 65mm connection as well as a 25mm connection for customers.

Card services are currently resolving the card readers and account information, with the aim to open the stations to the public before Christmas.

Thanks to the Water Services team in their collaboration in getting this project delivered.

Other works

Work to install equipment at the splash pads at Boggabri, Narrabri and Wee Waa will get underway this week.

This follows the recent painting of the surfaces at all three splash pads.

PARKS

Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts

Work is continuing towards the completion of the Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts upgrade. The multi-purpose courts now include:

• Two tennis courts
• Basketball court
• Netball court
• Soccer field
• Rebound wall
• Lights for night games
• Shelter and storage shed
• Tables and chairs
• Water fountain

The project was funded by the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities fund.

Sports facilities lighting upgrades

• Installation of lighting at Jubilee Oval in Boggabri, Cook Oval in Wee Waa and Narrabri’s Leitch Oval is continuing. Poles and wiring have been installed at all three sites.
• The removal of old poles at Leitch Oval has also been completed.

ROADS

• Grading works are ongoing across the region.
• Works are progressing on the Turrawan causeway replacement.
• SR31 Lake Circuit Upgrade: Works are progressing, with earthworks continuing on the subgrade.
• SR11 Harparary Road Upgrade (Maules Creek Road end): Works have commenced with site establishment, drainage works, and topsoil strip completed. Subgrade prep and earthworks are to follow.
• Kerb and Gutter Replacement Program: The crew has moved to Wee Waa and have commenced work on Rose Street.
• Town streets resealing: Works are continuing to finalise the street program this week, with work completed in Narrabri, Wee Waa and Pilliga.
• MR127 Pilliga Road Rehabilitation: Works on Stage 13 are progressing well with all gravel import completed and stabilising work continuing this week.
• Concrete floodways: Works are continuing on the floodway on Pilliga Road and Fordhams Gully on Killarney Gap Road.
• Tullamullen Bridge replacement: The contractor has established the site and commenced the boring for the piling. Concrete pours for the project are scheduled for next week.
• Gravel resheeting: Gravel resheeting is set to recommence at the end of this week, with approximately 3000 tonnes of material going to SR15 Theribri Road.

WATER

Narrabri sewer mains inspections and water jetting

Interflow Pty Ltd is currently undertaking CCTV inspections and high-pressure water jetting across sewer mains between Namoi Creek and Namoi River. The work is to ensure our sewer system continues to function well.

Works began on 11 November and will continue until 25 January next year, with a break from 20 December to 12 January.

Council is aiming to keep disruptions to a minimum and has sent letters to residents whose properties will be directly affected by the works.

Residents may notice some extra noise, increased vehicle movements as well as some odours during completion of these important works. Council thanks the community for their patience while the works take place.

OTHER WORKS

• Works on the toilet block and town clock between Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval have taken place and are now complete.
• Proactive flushing has taken place in Balonne Street, Narrabri
• Replacement of faulty valve and the installation of a new hydrant has been completed in Violet Street, Narrabri
• Main break repairs in Fitzroy Street and Ugoa Street, Narrabri
• Pump station maintenance took place at SPS A, Wee Waa

Parks

• Installation of the new shelter at the Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts is now complete. The tables and chairs and drinking fountain have also been installed at the facility. 
•  Installation of lighting at Jubilee Oval in Boggabri, Cook Oval in Wee Waa and Narrabri’s Lietch Oval is continuing.
•  Work is continuing on splash pads at Boggabri, Narrabri and Wee Waa with works on track to continue through to December.

Water

• Water tank installation - a new water tank has been installed at the Pilliga Bore Baths.
• Pilliga water outages - following reports of intermittent water supply issues in Pilliga our water operations team worked tirelessly last week to resolve the problem. We are pleased to advise that the issues have been investigated, monitored and full pressure has been returned to the Pilliga water supply network.

Roads

• Works have started on the construction of the new Tullamullen Bridge. The bridge will be built on a new alignment, allowing the existing bridge to remain open until the upgrade is complete. This project, which is expected to be completed by June 2025, has been funded with $2.3 million from the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges Program.
• Grading works are ongoing across the region.
• Stage One of the Yarrie Lake Circuit Project is continuing.
• Works are continuing on the Turrawan causeway replacement.
• Tar resealing is underway on streets in Narrabri, Pilliga and Wee Waa.

Parks

There was good progress on a number of projects across the regions parks this week. 

At Jubilee Oval in Boggabri, Cook Oval in Wee Waa, and Leitch Oval in Narrabri the team installed footings and conduits for new lights.

Concrete pads have been constructed for the new Columbarium Wall at Narrabri Lawn Cemetery.

And, installation of the new shelter and seating at the Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts is nearly complete.

Roads

Grading works are continuing this week across Tomlinson Lane, Piliga Road, Homestead Road, Braymont Road, and Old Narrabri Road.

Meanwhile, Stage One of the Yarrie Lake Circuit Project is continuing with clearing and grading underway and the Turrawan causeway replacement has commenced with works on the bypass track.

Water

Works are continuing on Boolcarrol Lane water main. General repairs and meter installation took place across the Shire.

Waste

CRC Community Recycle Centre clean up saw the removal of batteries, paints and other materials collected by the CRC team.

Splash parks

Infrastructure upgrade works within the Parks and Open Spaces are taking shape across the Shire. These works include the installation of new splash parks at:

• Boggabri - Vickery Park
• Narrabri - Pirate Park
• Wee Waa - Ludowici Park

The works are expected to continue through, and be completed in, December.

Dangar Park

The construction of the grandstand and security fence at Dangar Park, Narrabri are nearing completion, with works expected to continue through to the end of November.

Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts

Installation of shelter and seating are taking place at the facility.

Sports fields

Works have commenced on Council’s sports field lighting projects, including works at the following ovals:

• Jubilee Oval, Boggabri
• Cook Oval, Wee Waa
• Leitch and Collins ovals, Narrabri

• Yarrie Lake Circuit Stage One clearing works and site pegging is underway.
• Kerb and gutter works are taking place in Narrabri.
• Flood way works in Pilliga Road.

Pilliga Road Works

Flood way works are taking place on Pilliga Road.

Water Mains Renewal on Boolcarroll Road

Our contractor will be connecting the new watermain line with the existing one on Tuesday 22 October on Boolcarrol Rd. During this process, several stop valves will be turned off; however, we want to assure you that there will be no water outages for any properties. Please note that residents closer to Boolcarrol Rd may experience lower water pressure for a few hours during the connection process. Additionally, Louis Street will be closed from Boolcarrol Road for the duration of the work. Residents will still have access from the other side (Mitchell St), and detour signs will be placed to guide them.

Vegetation Control

Vegetation control is being undertaken across the region's cemeteries and open spaces. 

Splash Pad Electrical Works

Works are continuing on the splash pads at Pirate Park (Narrabri), Ludowici Park (Wee Waa) and Vickery Park (Boggabri).

Splash Pads
Form works for splash pads at Pirate Park (Narrabri), Ludowici Park (Wee Waa) and Vickery Park (Boggabri) are underway. 
Pending weather and contractors, the splash pads should open by mid-December.

Dangar Park, Narrabri
Perimeter fence at Danager Park in Narrabri has been erected ahead of works on the new grandstand.  

Water Services
Water mains replacement is ongoing in Wee Waa and sewer repairs are being undertaken in Narrabri.

Kerb and Gutter
Kerb and gutter works are ongoing in Narrabri.

Pilliga Road
Construction of Pilliga Road floodway has commenced with a side track being established and the original concrete base being removed.

Roads
Rehab works continue on Yarrie Lake Road. 

Waste
Stockpiling of steel and concrete has been completed in preparation for recycling at Narrabri Waste Management Facility. 

Parks
Preparation of sports fields for summer sports is underway. 
Slashing of open spaces continues and vegetation control at cemeteries is underway.

Water
Water main works are continuing in Wee Waa. 

Roads
Shoulder sealing works in Wee Waa Street, Boggabri and Maitland Street, Wee Waa.

Waste
Drainage works, cells works and steel recycling preparation at Narrabri Waste Management Facility.

Parks
- Wee Waa Multi-Purpose Courts: shelter slab and court access works.
- Sports field aeration works are underway at Narrabri's Cooma and Leitch ovals.
