Narrabri Place Strategy

The Narrabri Place Strategy, developed in partnership between the New South Wales Government and Narrabri Shire Council, sets out a 20-year vision to guide the growth and transformation of Narrabri.

Recognising Narrabri’s important role in the North West region of New South Wales, the strategy outlines how the town can sustainably grow to meet future housing and employment needs, while preserving the character and lifestyle our community values.

The strategy identifies areas across Narrabri that are suitable for:

  • Residential growth – supporting up to 2,100 new homes for both current and future residents

  • Employment land – providing space for light industrial activities to support local businesses and heavier industrial uses that benefit from nearby rail infrastructure and links to key regional ports like the Port of Newcastle

With an expected outcome of 600 new jobs, the Narrabri Place Strategy is a key step in ensuring our Shire remains a vibrant, connected and prosperous place to live and work.
