Sunset on Summer: Celebrate, Connect, Collaborate
Published on 08 January 2025
Narrabri Shire Council is proud to announce Sunset on Summer, a special community event celebrating the resilience and unity of our farmers, residents, and business owners.
Scheduled for Saturday, 15th February 2025, this event will be held at the Tourist Hotel Narrabri, offering a chance for the community to come together, reflect on achievements, and look forward to a more resilient future.
Mayor Darrell Tiemens emphasised the significance of the event, "Sunset on Summer is more than just a celebration, it’s an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our community during challenging times. Events like this play a vital role in strengthening our bonds, enhancing recovery readiness, and pride in what we’ve accomplished together."
The evening will combine celebration and purpose with Malinda Guest, Director of Boundless Psychology, facilitating a networking session using her “Get to Know Your Mates” cards, highlighting the importance of mental health and connection in community recovery.
“I’m incredibly proud to be part of Sunset on Summer, a truly special event that celebrates community, collaboration, and connection. This event is all about bringing people together—strengthening existing relationships while creating opportunities to build new ones. We’re also thrilled that it supports the incredible work of Rural Aid, an organisation making a real difference in rural communities”, said Ms. Guest.
Funded by the NSW Reconstruction Authority the event also supports a meaningful cause, acting as a fundraiser for Rural Aid. This gesture reflects Narrabri’s gratitude for the support it received during the drought.
Mayor Tiemens noted, "Rural Aid stood by us during tough times, and now it’s our turn to extend that support to others in need. This fundraiser underscores the strength of our broader community connections."
Attendees can look forward to a night filled with music, inspiration, and connection. Recovery-focused messaging will be woven throughout the event, featuring speeches, resilience stories, and opportunities to engage with the Community Resilience Network (CRN) to learn about its critical role in recovery efforts.
Tickets are priced at $40, covering catering costs while keeping the event accessible to all. Tickets are now on sale via the Tourist Hotel website Sunset on Summer Ticket Link.
