Local business owners and staff in Boggabri, Wee Waa and Narrabri will benefit from a range of workplace health and safety activities after Narrabri Shire Council received $19,500 from the NSW Better Regulation Division.
The sponsorship will see Council deliver a free workplace health and safety workshop series and program for local businesses to support them in making their workplaces safer.
The workshops coincide with National Safe Work Month and NSW Small Business Month.
Narrabri Shire Council Mayor Darrell Tiemens encouraged local businesses owners and their team to attend a workshop.
“As all businesses operators know – whether you’re a sole trader or have staff around you, looking after yourself and your team is critical,” Cr Tiemens said.
“In this respect, workplace health and safety is vital in making sure your business runs smoothly and successfully.
“The great thing about these workshops is that they are designed for everyone – business owners and staff alike, and will unravel the mysteries of workplace safety,” Cr Tiemens added.
“Rebecca Fing of House Paddock Consulting, who will be running the workshops, aims to make the program engaging, while making safety easy and understandable for everyone involved.
“It follows on from the success of previous workshops delivered by House Paddock Consulting for Council in 2020 and 2022.
“This year’s workshop series will again be well worth attending, and I’d like to encourage local business owners and their teams to come along and learn what it takes to make sure your business is safe and compliant,” Cr Tiemens said.
The first 30 people to register for a workshop will receive one-on-one coaching and a personalised audit to put the learnings into practice. Every business will also leave with an action plan to improve workplace health and safety.
