Last Friday, Narrabri Shire residents and their pets braved the rain to welcome the Animal Welfare League (AWL) Vet Truck, which set up shop behind The Crossing Theatre.

The event marked a much-anticipated return of this essential regional mobile vet service, which provides crucial, free pet care to local communities.

The community turned out in full force to take advantage of the Vet Truck's offerings, which included health checks, microchipping, and F3 vaccinations for both cats and dogs.

Narrabri Shire Council expressed their excitement at the return of this invaluable service and encouraged residents to make the most of the opportunity. Council Compliance Officer Tenayah-lee Woodward was on hand to greet attendees and highlight the benefits of the free services being offered.

“This was a one-day-only event that we’ve been eagerly waiting on for two years. We wanted to ensure that our community didn't miss out because we don’t know when the AWL Vet Truck will be back,” said Woodward.

“The AWL Vet Truck is highly sought after across the state, so securing a visit for our community is crucial for helping those who might struggle with the cost of veterinary care.”

The services provided by the AWL Vet Truck were tailored to meet the needs of local pet owners.

“The microchipping is a particularly important service. It not only helps in returning lost pets but also plays a significant role in controlling the spread of diseases within our pet community.”
