Narrabri Shire to receive over $3.5 million to fund pothole repairs
Published on 03 January 2023
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has today announced that over $3.5 million has been allocated to Narrabri Shire Council, to fund pothole repairs.
"We have listened to councils and we understand the pressure they are under from many months of wet weather," Mr Perrottet said.
"We recognise potholes are a major hazard right now. This critical funding injection will help every council across the state patch up potholes as well as carry out other emergency repair work."
The $3.5 million boost is on top of the $739, 849 already provided to Narrabri Shire Council by the NSW Government in December 2022, for emergency pothole repairs.
Narrabri Shire Mayor Ron Campbell said this funding will enable Council to continue repairs across the shire.
“This is a great belated Christmas gift for Narrabri Shire. It will enable our staff and contractors to continue the great work they are doing in repairing and making trafficable the 2343km shire road network,” Cr Campbell said.
“We sincerely thank the NSW Government for their continued support in these difficult and ongoing circumstances”.
Premier Perrottet said the money would be become available within weeks.
