Narrabri Shire Council is encouraging residents to grow native plants in lieu of invasive species that pose threats to the environment, and adversely impact on human and animal health.
To assist, Council is giving away a selection of native trees and shrubs to residents. Those interested can drop by Council’s stand at the upcoming markets (1 April) and 2023 Narrabri Show (6 May), to collect their free tree. A mix of native plants will be made available, suitable for town gardens and property owners.
Limited stock is available, with Council advising residents to get in quick should they wish to take up the offer.
Council’s biosecurity team will be present at both events with their display, and to answer any questions or concerns that residents may have regarding weeds on their property.
