Cr Tiemens has been elected unopposed as Narrabri Shire Mayor at today's September Ordinary Council Meeting. Cr Dickinson was elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.
Cr Tiemens and Cr Dickinson will hold the Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions until the local council elections anticipated to take place in September 2024. Cr Tiemens takes on the role of Mayor from Cr Ron Campbell, who was first elected as Mayor in September 2020.
"It is a great honour and privilege to be elected to this role, and I look forward to working with Councillors, staff, and the community over the coming year.”
"I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Cr Dickinson on being elected as Deputy Mayor," Cr Tiemens added.
"Importantly, I'd like to pay tribute to Cr Campbell, who has been a Narrabri Shire Council councillor for seven years and as Mayor during the past three years and who oversaw some significant milestones during this time, not least the delivery of a wide range of community and infrastructure projects.”
"This is in addition to the exceptional leadership of Cr Campbell during some difficult times for our Shire, including the recent flood events.”
"I thank Cr Campbell, who, together with Council and Narrabri Shire staff, showed an ongoing and unwavering commitment to our community, including fostering the growth and prosperity of our region."
