Council inks new municipal waste collection deal

Narrabri Shire Council formally accepted the combined conforming tender from JR & EG Richards (NSW) Pty Ltd for 10 years, after inviting tenders for Regional Waste Collection & Processing Services with Moree Plains Shire and Gwydir Shire Councils.

Moree Plains Shire Council, on behalf of Gwydir Shire and Narrabri Shire Councils, invited tenders through a public tender process opening in September and closed on 25 October 2022.

The services that were requested and tendered on included three separate parts relating to waste streams, as follows:

Part A: Waste Collection Services
Part B: Recycling Processing Services
Part C: Organics Processing Services

Following an extensive evaluation process by all Councils , JR & EG Richards were scored as the preferred tenderer.

Deputy Mayor Darrell Tiemens said the Council unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the independent tender panel, which conducted a robust and thorough tender process with Moree and Gwydir Shires.

“It’s been a great independent process and I congratulate Council staff including Manager of Waste Services, Director Infrastructure Delivery and the General Manager in the execution of this new contract,” said Cr Tiemens.

The current service contract with Cleanaway Pty Ltd commenced on 30 September 2013 and expires at midnight, 30 September 2023. It was part of a regional agreement with Moree Plains Shire and Gwydir Shire Councils.
