Council awards over $25,000 to local community groups

Narrabri Shire Council has awarded more than $25,000 to community groups under Round 3 of their Community Financial Assistance Grant program.
At an official ceremony at Council Chambers on Tuesday morning, $25,665 was shared across nine community groups:
- 1st Narrabri West Scouts
- ArtsNational Australian Decorative & Fine Arts Society
- Namoi Dragons Incorporated
- Narrabri Group of NSW Embroiderers’ Guild Inc
- Narrabri Meals on Wheels Inc
- Narrabri Public School P&C
- HealthWISE New England North West
- Spring Plains Fundraising Committee
- Wee Waa & District Preschool
Speaking to recipients at the ceremony, Mayor Darrell Tiemens praised the winners on their efforts.
“Thank you and your organisations for all the hard work you do to keep our Shire positive and vibrant. It’s a real pleasure to hand over this funding to you today," said Tiemens.
“Groups like yours are crucial for bringing our community together through sports, social events and community projects, and your dedication is much appreciated by all of us.”
For the 2023/2024 financial year, Council has awarded $104,514.51 across 25 organisations.
The Community Financial Assistance Grant is designed to assist the community’s development, provide funding for capacity-building events, projects, programs, and activities that benefit the people and the Shire.
Council’s Community Financial Assistance Grant was a finalist at the 2024 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.
