Council Hosts Inaugural Community Resilience Network Meeting

On Wednesday, 24 July, Narrabri Shire Council's Community Recovery Officer held the inaugural Community Resilience Network (CRN) meeting, marking a significant step towards integrating local community service organisations and non-government organisations into the recovery planning and resilience-building process.

The CRN’s primary goal is to bridge the gap between local community organisations and the emergency management sector, facilitating a channel for sharing information on community capabilities, needs, and impacts. This approach focuses on higher-risk groups, ensuring their voices and concerns are adequately represented.

By encouraging two-way communication between Council, Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC), Local Recovery Committee, and local community organisations, the CRN aims to enhance resilience and recovery efforts across the board. The network promotes the sharing of information and activities that support resilience and recovery for community services, businesses, and the broader community within the LGA.

The network also discussed upcoming events for the shire, including Red Cross Emergency Planning Training scheduled for Boggabri, Wee Waa, and Narrabri in September, and an innovative “Naomi Valley” Big Map Exercise in November, promising to be both unique and highly informative.
