Council, in partnership with disability service providers, is inviting community members to a free event on Wednesday 6 December in honour of International Day of People with Disability.

The event will include a light lunch followed by some art and craft activities.

Narrabri Shire Mayor Darrell Tiemens encouraged community members to come along to the event.

“This community event is not only an opportunity to commemorate International Day of People with Disability, but it also recognises the importance of fostering inclusivity, understanding and appreciation for our community’s diverse abilities,” Mayor Tiemens said.

“This event is also about celebrating the strength, resilience, and countless achievements of people with disability, their families, friends, and support networks.

“It is also a chance to learn more about the experiences of community members with disabilities, listen to their stories and celebrate their triumphs, while also recognising the steps we need to take in working with people with disability to create a more inclusive society,” Mayor Tiemens added.
