Anticipation is building for the magical all-of-community event NarraBRIGHT, which is now less than two weeks away!
Set to dazzle and surprise on Friday, 15 March from 6pm, this much-loved annual street party celebrates the vibrant community, CBD and businesses of Narrabri.
Now in its fourth year, NarraBRIGHT will see Narrabri’s main street bursting with colour, music, entertainment, late night shopping, food, captivating art installations, market stalls and art workshops.
Following their overwhelming success last year, Illuminart are returning to this year’s NarraBRIGHT – showcasing their spectacular and breathtaking light projections.
The Meat on Maitland and McDonald’s Fashion building will be one of three projection sites at NarraBRIGHT 2024.
“NarraBRIGHT is not only great for the town but benefits the local businesses by bringing visitors to the community,” Meat on Maitland owners Damien and Tiffany Galvin said.
“Meat on Maitland is lucky to be able to be involved with not only the locals/visitors shopping and browsing, but also the local pubs and clubs buying our local product to provide meals for the night.
"We are lucky to have a wonderful community with so much to do."
Geoff Artis from the Wilga and Namoi Hotel, who will be running a first-time licensed bar at NarraBRIGHT, said the event saw the community come together.
“NarraBRIGHT, set in the main street of Narrabri, ignites a wave of support for local businesses and allows all ages to come together and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with a community spirit,” he said.
“We always try and support this event and love to see the whole town as much as us.”
Funded, organised and ran by Narrabri Shire Council, NarraBRIGHT has continued to get bigger and even better – becoming a highlight on the local events calendar.
“NarraBRIGHT is a great initiative from the Narrabri Shire Council and we look forward to it every year,” General Manager Tourist Hotel Narrabri Morgan Jones said. The Tourist Hotel will be hosting outdoor dining and live music for the event.
“We love seeing Maitland Street come alive with such a fantastic atmosphere right outside our door,” he added.
Last year’s celebrations saw around 4,000 people make their way to Narrabri’s CBD for the event.
Community Development Officer Kayla Nehrkorn from Narrabri and District Community Aid Service (NDCAS), which is hosting the event’s Youth Zone, emphasised the value of NarraBRIGHT for the community.
“Festivals like NarraBRIGHT are a great opportunity for families to enjoy time together in our main street, participating in something fun and affordable,” she said.
Narrabri Shire Mayor Darrell Tiemens paid tribute to all those who continued to make NarraBRIGHT a success.
“Events such as NarraBRIGHT don’t just happen without some amazing coordination behind the scenes and a lot of hours into making it so special,” Mayor Tiemens said.
“More than 169 event crew, community volunteers and performers have made this year's celebrations possible – plus the huge team of Council staff who have volunteered their time.
“This year’s NarraBRIGHT also includes the involvement of 14 community groups – a record number,” Mayor Tiemens added.
“A special mention must go to the artists, singers and entertainers who will make the evening so magical, including Illuminart.
“I’d also like to pay tribute to all our local businesses who help ensure NarraBRIGHT is such a success – including opening their doors for late-night shopping and dining.”
Lauren Brown from the band Wait For Green said they were ecstatic to be able to play at NarraBRIGHT again.
“It is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the community, and since then we have done many gigs and gained a lot of spotlight from NarraBRIGHT – so I encourage others to get involved in it too!”
