The NSW Government has today announced that Narrabri Shire Council has been awarded $150,000 from the Resources for Regions Program, to develop a feasibility study of Dripping Rock as a tourism destination.

The cash injection will allow Council to research and deliver a detailed report for the Dripping Rock area as tourist attraction including road upgrades, land acquisition, concept designs, community benefits and a cost analysis.

Narrabri Shire Mayor Ron Campbell said the funding will play a huge role in drawing in people from across the country and supporting local businesses.

“By developing a feasibility study, we can determine if this investment will be beneficial to the community of Narrabri Shire – with a special consideration of the amount of tourists who would spend their money on local cafes, pubs and motels,” Cr Campbell said.

“Our Council is looking toward the future and ensuring we’re planning the infrastructure needed to benefit our residents”.

In his announcement, Minister Sam Farraway said the allocation will provide the means for Narrabri Shire Council to critically analyse the most important aspects of establishing Dripping Rock as a tourist destination.

“This investment will allow the Council to consider improving facilities by analysing the related costs and community benefits. It’s fantastic to see them capitalising on this investment and planning for the future of local families and businesses,” said Mr Farraway.
