Are you interested in serving your community as a councillor?

This introductory information session is essential for all potential candidates considering standing in the elections. It will help you make an informed decision about whether becoming a councillor is the right fit for you.

The sessions, which will be informal and interactive, are an opportunity to hear about:
• the system of local government in NSW
• the role of Council and its services and functions
• the roles and responsibilities of the Mayor and councillors and how this differs from the role of the General Manager and Council staff
• what is expected of a councillor including the skills and attributes required, plus information about how Council supports its councillors
• potential challenges of the role and how to manage these
• how councillors get elected and what will happen if you are elected

Local government elections will be held on Saturday 14, September 2024.
